The archive deliberately keeps official club totals and imported match detail complementary rather than forcing them into one version of history.

The published 2023/24 club register supplies historical premierships, captains and perpetual trophies. Confirmed club updates extend the perpetual-trophy and Bruce Shearer Trophy winners through 2025/26.

A clear source hierarchy

Existing Season records remain the source of truth. Imported scorecards never rewrite a player’s official career or season totals.

Scorecards power the detail views. Grounds, opponents, batting position, dismissal, format, match stage and individual innings come from the match archive.

The Annual Report settles official honours. Its named winners, premierships and captains take precedence over a result inferred from points or scorecards alone.

Ambiguity is logged rather than guessed. Unresolved player links or incomplete historical fields stay out of profile drill-downs until they can be reconciled safely.
The maths
How the headline figures are calculated
Runs ÷ dismissals
A not-out innings contributes runs and an innings, but not a dismissal.
Runs conceded ÷ wickets
Wickets credited to the bowler are used; team run-outs are not bowling wickets.
Runs conceded per six-ball over
Recorded balls are converted to six-ball overs before the rate is calculated.
Wins ÷ decided matches
Draws and no-results do not enter the denominator. Historical no-score fixtures recorded as ties are treated as washouts.

Match-level analysis covers senior MWCA Saturday one-day and two-day competitions. Individual performance detail is retained for CPCC players; team results and scores are retained across the competition where available.
Making history searchable
Names and venues are normalised with care
Player identity
PlayHQ and PlayCricket identities are linked to the club’s existing WordPress player IDs. Clear aliases are merged through an audited manual-reconciliation register; different people with the same name remain separate.
A profile’s scorecard analysis only includes source identities marked as mapped. The club’s existing Player and Season records remain unchanged by that link.
Ground identity
Verified aliases are presented under one canonical ground name so the same venue does not split a record. Distinct numbered ovals and surfaces remain separate where the source supports that distinction.
When a historical scorecard does not record a venue, the match remains in the archive as “Ground not recorded” rather than being assigned by assumption.
Read the numbers well
Coverage and interpretation notes
- Before 2007/08: official career and season totals may still be available, but match-by-match drill-downs are not currently supported.
- Older scorecards: grounds, balls faced, dismissal detail, captaincy or fielding events may be absent even when the result and principal figures are present.
- Formats and stages: labels are standardised to make one-day/two-day and regular season/finals filters consistent across platforms.
- Premiership eligibility: a player receives a team premiership honour after more than four appearances for the report-confirmed winning grade; official captains receive the captain treatment.
- Corrections: identity, venue and source corrections are made beside the club record and are logged. They do not silently alter authoritative Season totals.
